Alps™ Projects for LAs
In 2008-2009 Alkemygold Ltd, the company that runs Alps, contracted with 80 Local Authorities to provide Alps analysis and training to the schools and colleges within their areas.
The LA package typically includes:
- statistical Alps report in a user-friendly format provided to the schools and colleges within an area
- one-to-one feedback on the Alps report to senior management teams at schools, colleges and Local Authorities
- training seminars on the three key requirements for success in a school or college; (1) Leadership, (2) Target Setting, Monitoring, Guidance and Support and (3) Engaging Learners. All three seminars are practical and inspirational and discuss the systems that can be integrated into the management and teaching of a school or college to raise achievements of students and staff. Each seminar is led by experienced senior teachers
- follow-up training for staff in individual providers
- a dedicated educational and technical help-line service all year round
The Alps Local Authority report analyses in detail how post-16 education providers are performing in their respective areas against a national benchmark. It provides evidence of where strengths and weaknesses lie and it contains measurements of the overall performance of each school/college and subject-by-subject performance.
The Alps benchmark is created from a large database of 260, 575 A level/AVCE results. These are taken from 90, 625 students studying at 850 schools, 91 sixth form colleges and 51 further education colleges.
