About Alps™
Dr Kevin Conway was the principal of Greenhead Sixth Form College from 1987 until he retired in 2001. During this time, Kevin developed a system at Greenhead College that had a profoundly positive impact on the participation, retention and achievements of the students. Greenhead College went from being an average college to being one of the top colleges in the country. This transformation was a direct result of Kevin's leadership, systems and philosophy.
Following his retirement from Greenhead College in 2001, Kevin condensed and tuned the systems that made Greenhead College so successful and developed Alps (Advanced Level Performance Systems). Alps was created by a teacher to be used by teachers and students and is a simple and clear system that is totally user-friendly.
Alps is about continual improvement and raising aspirations of students and staff through data analysis and training. Alps is underpinned by a simple philosophy that every student:
- is an individual
- is an exception
- is to be valued
All of Kevin's wealth of experience and intimate knowledge of what makes a successful school or college is encapsulated within Alps. The focus of Alps is on level 3 performance, however the Alps philosophy is transferable to any level.
Alps is used in over 1200 schools and colleges, covering 80 Local Authorities in 2009-2010, providing Alps analysis reports and follow-up training to staff. A highly qualified and skilled team of post-16 experienced senior teachers deliver the training.
